Participants of the i²c StartAcademy will...

  • go through a number of crucial steps to evaluate their PhD, R&D or other project results to identify the potential for a successful business venture

  • focus on the USP, target group, financing/funding, team composition, market analysis, etc. of their projects

  • shape and formulate their own project for sales

  • get trained in pitching for investment

  • have the possibility to talk one-on-one to trainers and mentors during the whole workshop

  • perform a pitch in front of a jury, consisting of business angels, public funding institutions, private investors (at Day 4, NetworkFriday)

  • experience an intense workshop with national & international trainers and mentors from different business areas

 

The i²c StartAcademy offers...

  • a discussion of the project´s potential (PhD thesis, funded research project results, other ideas and projects)

  • mentoring and practical advice from inter-/national trainers, founders and investors

  • methods and tools to set up a business model and finance scheme

  • an open and collaborative, interdisciplinary atmosphere

  • marketing advise & pitch training

  • sustainable service through a mentoring program (for the time after the workshop)

  • access to the founders and investors network around the i²c and Startup community

  • limited participation to a maximum of 10 projects (2-3 team members per project)

  • Awards

  • i²c High Potential PhD Award (a EUR 5000 scholarship grant to fully focus on research commercialization after the PhD at the TUW i²ncubator including a desk space in the FounderSpace)

  • admission to the TUW i²ncubator (jury decision)

  • participation in one of the pitch challenges of the „go-international“ programs of Aussenwirtschaft Austria (depending on the most valuable market for your project, eg. London, Tel Aviv, Hongkong, Silicon Valley)

  • an investment pitch at AAIA (Austrian Angel Investment Association)

 

How to apply:

Send an email to i2c-app@informatik.tuwien.ac.at containing the following:

  • an abstract of the project & state of the art

  • a synopsis of your expectations on the StartAcademy program

The project/PhD has to be in progress or completed. We recommend 2-3 team members per project to attend the workshop. Participation is limited to 10 projects

Your application will be reviewed by an expert jury and upon their decision you will be notified on the status of your application
